Septarian gemstones are mined in Utah. When the ocean receded, many marine fossils were left trapped within the cracks of these rocks forming calcite crystals and Aragonite minerals. The yellow portion of the rock is calcite and the brown portion is Aragonite. Most Septarian nodules are solid, but some contain small and large cavities lined with calcite crystals. This cabochon stone is set in sterling silver and accented by a peridot colored cubic zirconium.
